MPL 2015 will continue to mirror MPL 2014 in that we will stick with five teams.
Adding a sixth team was under consideration if we could get 78 (or close to it) registrations prior to the auction. However, with ground permit being a concern, we decided to stick with five teams, and hence also close registration once we had 70 paid registrations.
MPL 2015 Captains
Ankit, Chirag, Kaushik, Priyank and Rohith.
As the leaders of your respective super-hero clans from MPL 2014, you have one last duty. That duty is to transfer the title of leader (‘captain’ in the cricketing world) to someone on your squad from MPL 2014. You have till end of day Monday – June 8th – to announce the new captain.
Please note, that you may choose to stay on as the leader of your super-hero clan for another MPL season.
Player Retention
The captain of any given team for MPL 2015 has the choice to retain up to two players from the MPL 2014 squad of his team.
Please note that this is a change in the retention policy – a captain now has the choice of not retaining anyone, apart from himself. It is no longer mandatory for the new captain to retain any players.
The MPL 2015 captain for each team, needs to announce himself as the ‘Lone Warrior’, the ‘Band of Brothers’, or the ‘Three Musketeers’ for his team, by end of day June 13th.
Each MPL 2015 team, thus, entering the “Player’s Auction” (June 17), will have between one and three player’s on the roster.
Team Purse at the Player’s auction
The average stock price of each player retained by each of the five teams, including that of the captain, will be subtracted from the team’s auction purse. Thus at the start of the auction, based on the player’s retained, each team will have a different bank balance to purchase the services of any given player.
In MPL 2014 each team had a purse of $110 entering the auction, prior to subtracting the cost of the three player’s retained. The total purse for each team for MPL 2015 will be announced prior to the player’s auction.
