With the ground permit information for Ashland Field and Sargent Field now confirmed through August (thank you Ganesh Iyer, as always), I’ve been able to schedule the remainder of the matches in MPL 2017 – July and August.
The round-robin schedule breakdown is as follows:
- Avengers, Incredibles, Justice League, and Transformers have a total of five matches scheduled at Ashland Field.
- X-Men have a total of six matches scheduled at Ashland Field.
- Avengers, Incredibles, Justice League, and Transformers have a total of five matches scheduled at Sargent Field.
- X-Men have a total of four matches scheduled at Sargent Field.
- All five teams have five home matches.
- All five teams have five away matches.
The round-robin stage of the tournament, per schedule, wraps up on Thursday, August 3rd.
The two matches that have been washed out so far – Transformers vs. X-Men (6/6 – ‘Match Abandoned’), and X-Men vs. Avengers (6/19 – ‘No Result’) – have been rescheduled. They will follow the end of the round-robin stage.
The first washed out match – Transformers vs. X-Men – has been rescheduled for Monday, August 7th @ Ashland Field.
The second washed out match – X-Men vs. Avengers – has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 8th @ Sargent Field.
Wednesday, August 9th @ Sargent Field, and Thursday, August 10th @ Sargent Field, will serve as reserve days for a maximum of two more washed out matches.
The only semi-final – between teams ranked second and third at the end of the round-robin – is scheduled for Monday, August 14th @ Ashland Field. Tuesday, August 15th @ Sargent Field will serve as the ‘Reserve Day’ for the semi-final.
The MPL 2017 Final – between the top-ranked team, and the winner of the semi-final – is scheduled for Wednesday, August 16th @ Sargent Field. Thursday, August 17th @ Sargent Field will serve as the ‘Reserve Day’ for the final.
However, if per the MPL 2017 Rules – Playoff’s 2.2 – the point difference between teams ranked second and third is more than five points, there will be no semi-final. In this case, the MPL 2017 final will be scheduled between teams ranked first and second, for Tuesday, August 15th @ Sargent Field.
For all Playoff matches, the lower ranked team will be the designated home team, and thus responsible for ground setup.
